Knowledge & Expertise Manager
JOB ROLE
The Knowledge and Expertise lead will play a critical role in advancing BVT’s Bamboo Village Model by developing comprehensive manuals, supporting the review of new Backbone Landscape Partner (BBLP) candidates, and coordinating technical expertise across all program phases. This individual will also be responsible for managing knowledge resources, providing technical advisory to stakeholders, and fostering collaboration between BVT, BBLPs, and relevant experts to enhance program quality and capacity building.
Key Responsibilities
Manual Development and Knowledge Management
- Lead the creation of a comprehensive manual on the Bamboo Village Model, including its introduction, glossary, mechanisms, and processes up to the village-level bamboo processing facility.
- Manage organizational knowledge by developing resources, training materials, and guidance for both internal and external stakeholders.
Committee Coordination and Candidate Review Support
- Develop a standardized committee package for the evaluation of new BBLP candidates, including criteria, indicator metrics, and reporting templates.
- Support and coordinate the work of the committee, ensuring consolidation of feedback and evaluation results.
Technical Advisory and Program Design
- Provide technical expertise and program design support to BBLPs across various landscapes, ensuring that technical issues related to bamboo cultivation and social forestry are resolved.
- Act as the primary liaison between BVT, BBLPs, and a network of consultants, experts, and advisors related to the seven enabling conditions of the Bamboo Village Model.
Stakeholder Engagement and Partnerships
- Collaborate closely with the secretariat team, program managers, directors, and other department heads to provide technical support.
- Build and maintain a network of strategic partners, consultants, and advisors to enhance program implementation.
Leadership and Capacity Building
- Lead the Knowledge and Expertise department, focusing on the management of social forestry programs and agroforestry restoration initiatives.
- Ensure that all BBLPs are fully supported with training, technical guidance, and access to expertise
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or a related field with a strong focus on social agroforestry and forest economy.
- At least 7 years of experience managing social agroforestry programs or related initiatives.
- Demonstrated expertise in agroforestry restoration, community-based forest management, and sustainable development practices.
- Strong technical knowledge of policies, regulations, and standards related to social forestry and environmental conservation.
- Proven ability to build strategic partnerships, provide technical advisory, and secure funding for environmental programs.
- Excellent leadership, project management, and team-building skills.
- Exceptional communication, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Experience with monitoring, evaluation, and reporting in environmental programs (preferred).
