Visual Communications Officer

JOB ROLE

The Visual Communications Officer is responsible for creating and managing visual content to effectively communicate the organization’s message and enhance organization brand presence across various platforms.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Formal Education

Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or related field.

Work Experience

Min 2-3 years of proven experience, with a strong portfolio of work.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Competency in photography, graphic design, videographer and editor.
  • Proficiency in  Canva and Adobe Creative Suites programs, such as Illustrator, Audition, Photoshop, Premiere, and InDesign.
  • Some experience using Asana, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Teams & Outlook Premier.

JOB SPECIFICATION

Graphic Design

  • Create, develop and refine visually and graphically appealing design concepts according to the BVT program for web, social media, and print materials.
  • Support in designing templates and visual assets that align with our brand guidelines.

Photography & Video Production

  • Capture and edit photos and videos for promotional and documentation purposes.
  • Manage video production projects from concept through completion.
  • Develop motion graphics for videos and interactive content.

Web Design

  • Design and maintain the visual aspects of our website, ensuring a cohesive look and feel.
  • Implement design changes and updates.
  • Optimize website graphics for performance and user experience.

Brand Management

  • Ensure all visual content adheres to the organization’s brand identity and guidelines
  • Maintain and update brand assets as needed.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with the communications team to support campaigns and initiatives.

Layout & Composition

  • Determining the arrangement of visual elements in a design, considering factors such as hierarchy, readability and overall aesthetics.
  • Design layouts for documents, reports and promotional materials.
  • Understand typography, color theory and layout principles.

Visual Trend Awareness

  • Stay informed about current design trends and be able to incorporate relevant elements into creative work.
  • Innovate and experiment with new design techniques.
  • Stay informed in current design software and proficient in using Canva and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign) and other relevant design software.
