Grievance
Accountability and Grievance Mechanism
Bamboo Village Trust (BVT) is committed to fostering a culture of openness, integrity, and the highest standards of accountability. This mechanism establishes a clear process for stakeholders, individuals, Backbone Landscape Partners (BBLPs), Champions, and bamboo village communities to raise concerns regarding BVT initiatives.
This aligns with BVT’s Accountability System Policy and the “Do No Harm” principle, ensuring timely, consistent responses, and access to remedy.
Each grievance is assessed for potential breach of BVT’s social and environmental safeguards, Code of Conduct, standards or procedures. The mechanism is independently managed to identify root causes and ensure corrective action.
A grievance is defined as a formal complaint regarding actual or potential harm, injustice, or non-compliance resulting from BVT programs or projects. Grievances are classified into the following categories:
- Programmatic & Social Issues (GrievanceRedress Mechanism – GRM):
– Exclusion from a project consultations or activities, including free, prior, and informed consent processes (FPIC);
– Harm from project activities (e.g.,pollution, noise, dust, disruption);– Risks to community health, safety, or security (e.g., use of security personnel, disease, road/traffic safety);
– Conflicts regarding land use or natural resource management attributed to project operations.
- Serious Misconduct:
– Misappropriation of funds, fraud, corruption, or bribery.– Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment (SEAH) against staff or community members.
– Violations of child protection policies and standards.
– Retaliation against whistleblowers or complainants.
Any bamboo village community, organization, farmer, staff member, implementing partner, or affected party may submit a complaint. Representatives or third parties may also lodge a complaint on their behalf. Complaints may be submitted anonymously, and BVT guarantees the confidentiality of the complainant’s identity.
Complaints will be addressed through an open and transparent process to find a fair solution. Confidentiality is respected, and protection from retaliation is ensured.
BVT is committed to the highest standards of integrity. All grievances-whether pertaining to specific landscape projects, global operations, or confidential matters (including serious misconduct)-can be submitted through our centralized independent reporting system.
Secure & Confidential Reports are managed strictly by the Independent Integrity Unit (IIU) to ensure independence and protection from retaliation. You may report anonymously in Bahasa Indonesia or English.
