Bamboo Village Trust (BVT) is a financial vehicle and Project Management Unit implementing the Bamboo Village Model. We address the interconnected crises of climate change, land degradation, and rural poverty by restoring degraded lands and ecosystems across the tropical belt. Through social forestry and bamboo-based agroforestry, we transform degraded landscapes into sustainable forestry assets and community-managed enterprises. We aim to mobilize catalytic capital to establish 200 Bamboo Villages by 2030, empowering local leadership to drive the rural restoration economy.
To restore the ecosystem, the dignity, and livelihoods of marginalized communities across the tropical belt,
we need long-term holistic solutions.
Bamboo Village Trust is a Philanthropic Financial Vehicle established in 2023.
It is part of the Bamboo Village Initiative, aiming to create sustainable livelihoods and restore degraded land across the tropical belt through the Bamboo-Based Agroforestry System.

Restoring ecosystems, dignity, and rural livelihoods across the tropical belt requires long-term, community-driven solutions built on a restoration-based economy. Bamboo Village Trust (BVT) was founded to meet this need. Its origins lie in the early environmental work of Linda Garland, whose deep commitment to bamboo, ecological restoration, and community resilience shaped a generational vision. Building on his mother’s legacy, Arief Rabik established BVT in 2023 to continue advancing a landscape-level restoration framework capable of addressing the interconnected crises of climate change, land degradation, and rural poverty.
